Brazilian guitarist, arranger and producer bringing the music of Rio de Janeiro to stages and studios across Europe

From the soul of Brazil to the heart of music: the sonic art of Bruno Scantamburlo

Italian-Brazilian musician, arranger and producer based in Florence, with over 20 years of experience between Brazil and Europe. Bruno has collaborated with leading names of Brazilian music — including Toquinho, MPB4, Erasmo Carlos, Duofel, Leandro Braga, Hélio Delmiro, Toninho Horta and Roberto Menescal — and with Italian artists such as Irene Grandi, Drusilla Foer, Narciso Parigi and Stefano Bollani, among others.

He has performed at renowned festivals and clubs including Jazz and Image Colosseo (Rome), Cittadella Jazz Festival (Cittadella, PD), Borgo Incantato in Gerace, Calabria, Jazz nella Rocca (Imola), Pop Cult Festival in Emilia-Romagna, Alexanderplatz Jazz Club in Rome and BFlat in Cagliari, alongside tours and workshops celebrating Brazilian music and jazz in international contexts.

As a producer and arranger, he was responsible for the arrangements of Lorenzo Andreaggi’s album “Italia, America e ritorno” — featuring Stefano Bollani, Irene Grandi, Finaz and Bachi (Bandabardò), among others — and released “Brazilian Guitar from Rio” (2022) with the Bruno Scantamburlo Trio, alongside Bernardo Sacconi (electric bass) and Piero Borri (drums). In 2023 he contributed guitar and mandolin to “Amore Boh!” by Drusilla Foer and Franco Godi on the album DRU.

Together with Marco Catinaccio and Silvia Baraldi, Bruno founded Roda de Samba do Careca in Bologna, an initiative bringing together Brazilian and Italian musicians and artists to celebrate the samba tradition. Since 2022 he has been part of Rionapology, a musical and theatrical project with Neapolitan actor Peppe Lanzetta exploring the peripheries of Naples and Rio de Janeiro, produced and conceived by Alessia Magliacane and Francesco Rubino of Juju Entertainment, combining music, storytelling and performance into a singular experience.

His music moves naturally between samba, choro, bossa nova, jazz and Brazilian rhythms, blending technical mastery, sensitivity and a multicultural vision that inspires both on stage and in the studio.
